I provide supervision for those who are looking to obtain their license to practice clinical social work (LCSW) in Illinois. Clinical supervision is of course required for licensure, and a great opportunity to more deeply understand cases, theory, and practice through interaction and consultation with colleagues. I have completed my LCSW supervision training through NASW-IL and have been practicing as a psychotherapist under my LCSW since 2012. Supervision is based on individual needs but usually consists of case consultation, discussion of clinical and systems topics, and/or sharing of resources.
I offer a limited number of opportunities for supervisees to work under my practice at Milwood Suites.
While working with me, clinicians can gain:
new ways of looking at complex cases
how to deal with ethical issues or dilemmas
a better understanding of how to navigate the system in which you work in and how to best help your clients
identify transference or countertransference issues
how to understand and apply current "trauma in the body" neurobiological research (polyvagal theory) in therapy, and what trainings are available to grow these skills
how social structures such as white supremacy, capitalism, Earth exploration, and partriarchy adversely impact mental and physical health, and how to address these in therapy
how to use your own boundary work in therapy sessions and after work to decrease secondary trauma
how to create a work/life balance as well as establish good self-care routines.
